Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, leading to motor symptoms such as tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia, and postural instability. One of the therapeutic strategies in PD management involves inhibition of the enzyme monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B), which is responsible for the oxidative deamination of dopamine in the brain.
