Animal house and herbal garden visit

Students reached the SMBT Nandi hills campus by 9 am along with their visit co-ordinator Dr.Sheetal Chavan (Dept. of PHD). Dr. Chaitali Diwane of SMBT Pharmacy College gave the tour of the animal house and briefed the students about basic working of the Animal House like correct method of animal handling, storage, food to be given for their survival and overall maintenance. Drug testing on the animals (mice) was also explained to the students. The locations at which the drugs should be inoculated and the proper way of holding and injecting the animal was also demonstrated.The herbal garden tour was under the guidance of Dr. Rajesh Wankhade of SMBT College of Ayurveda. Various herbs, trees were shown and related information like medicinal use, scientific terms and their origin, effects on the human body and each herb’s role in medicine and ayurveda was explained by him to the students in detail.
